Connecticut Budget CEP

Budget deliberations: The proposed budget adopted by the legislature on September 15 includes a series of cuts to services and other existing programs. One of the programs slated for elimination is the Connecticut Election Program or CEP which provides funding to candidates for state offices after an initial threshold amount has been raised by the candidate within his/her district. The program has been in effect for several election cycles, has reduced the amount of out-of-state money coming in to influence elections and has reduced the number of districts where incumbents are unopposed. CEP is NOT funded by taxpayer money but from various escheats. The LWVG stands with the LWVCT in opposition to the elimination of this program. To express your support of CEP, you may phone 860-566-4840, or to email the Governor click here.
